How to optimize my engine?

Just pick the best one. It will beat your opponent assuming he is not using an engine too.

No lol I don't want to cheat, just analyse

I don't know arena, but as a general statement, it IS possible to tell engines how many alternate lines to explore. That said, if you are analyzing each position for 10s or so, you should be getting deep enough for the answers to be reasonably accurate (i.e. it is going to be analyzing MUCH stronger than you are likely to be playing). I know how to do what you want in Fritz. I'm just not an Arena user.

Okay thanks

I'm using stockfish 9 on arena 3.5.1 but it calculates a lot of alternative lines on each position so it never reaches enough depth to give me a proper respones. How can I make it analyze one line only and give more computational strenght to the program?

Thank you

Engines in Arena normally default to a multiPV of 1 (1 main line only). If you have it set to a higher number, then you'll get more variations. So, just ensure that multiPV = 1, and you should be good.

Right click on engine analysis box, u will see this option, set Multi Pv=1
