I noticed with the amount of chess sources out there, it's easy to spread yourself too thin trying to learn too many things at once. I think the more you enjoy chess, the more consistent and quicker you learn. I set out to find my play style and came to find that I enjoy playing positionally the most. I don't like risks, attacking, sacrificing, or elaborate tactics. It's way more fun taking it slow, improving position with each move and waiting on the opponent to make a mistake to exploit it. I tried to find who played like this the most and got Anatoly Karpov. Now all I do is study positional chess from books, videos, and his games.
To summarize:
1. Find your play style
2. Find who is best known for that play style
3. Find the best books and videos on that play style
4. Focus only on that play style to get good at chess overall
