Getting flagged is BS

I don't understand why people call it dirty flagging, especially with GM's. One of the main ways to win is by your opponent running out of time, along with checkmating them. I call BS on anyone complaining about flagging, the time controls are a part of the game. I couldn't begin to tell you how many games I've lost in winning positions and one move away checkmates. At the same time I couldn't begin to tell you how many times I was completely lost but they ran out of time. Speed Chess, not for the faint of heart happy.png

I don't think you understood my post, I don't mind getting flagged it's a part of speed chess but thank you for the suggestion happy.png

tbh the point off clocks are to flag (in blitz, bullet or maybe even rapid!), so stop complaining. Just play games with big increments.

Whining about getting flagged is BS, actually. It doesn't matter how brilliant your moves are if they don't respect the fact that a clock is ticking. Play a longer time control until you find a time control that your problem isn't being flagged often. But please, don't play blitz and cry 'flagger' to your opponent when you're flagged in a winning position. You only look like the moron who can't manage/aren't able to move fast enough.

In answer to the O.P., typically, in my games, I play 10 minutes blitz all the time. I might have four minutes left and they have seven. I might have a winning position. If the position is clear enough to play quickly, I win. If not, I might lose. That's the way of things.

And I was just thinking that 10 minutes was rapid...

Flagging in lost positions or drawn positions is pretty much the norm, especially sub 2000 where no one really cares about ethics.
