Its called rating difference.
The bigger the rating difference between 2 players, the bigger the point gain/loss.
The smaller the rating difference between 2 players, the smaller the point gain/loss.

We were very close actually..and i used to get one time only people who are 1250+..and even if i managed to beat them i would get 10 max
After your rating settles down from being a new member, the points gained/loss decreases.
This.
Chess.com uses the Glicko2 rating system, which tracks two numbers, not just one.
The first number is your rating, which is a rough estimate of your playing strength compared to the opponents that you've faced. The second number is your RD, which measures just how accurate or how approximate your rating is.
When you join chess.com, you start off with a very high RD, indicating that your assigned rating is just a rough guess. With such a high RD, each win will gain you LOTS of points and each loss will cost you lots of points. As you play more and more games, your rating "homes in" on your actual playing strength and your RD gradually drops, so that wins and losses involve the gain or loss of only a small handful of points.
Can someone please explain to me how getting the points for winning in blitz (5 min) works ? Because I've been struggling and tryharding to rank up ( I'm always around 1150-1200). I've seen people get 20+ points for a single win, whereas I, no matter how good i play that match, always get somewhere around 7-9 ? I hope someone can shed some light on this.
