Good books on Endgame for 2100+ rating range

Endgame is very important stage and very complicated.

There's practical endgame, theoretical endgame and other phrases ....

What are the good books, that covers if not all ,  then most of it and teaches you about everything a little bit.

Please recommend only NEW (2000-2018) books. Thx .

How can someone as obviously brain damaged as you have an 1800 rating?

I'm sorry but I'm going to have to report you for cheating.

Reccomend Dvorestskys endgame manual, its reccomended for 2000+ but even myself at mid 1000s found it useful

I have read through a number of ESP-918's posts. He's very good at creating forum threads that sound interesting.

But I've come to the conclusion that he's not really interested in the answers. He keeps asking the same basic question in slightly different ways.

How's this: break 2200 FIDE, then answer the question yourself, and share your knowledge!

In the mean time, DEM and Fundamental Chess Endings are really the only two endgame books anyone really needs. There are many other good endgame books out there. The secret isn't in choosing which of the many great books to buy. The secret is that you also need to study these books!

I'm interested in every answer,  except the off topic ones.

The reason I'm asking similar questions as you say, is simply because I didn't get satisfying answer for the first time. What's wrong with it?  People are changing in this forum and some haven't seen the old forum etc...

You saying two books on endgame are the best I might agree on DEM ,  but what about Alexander Panchenko theory and practice of chess endings?  How your choice( your second book) is better ?

If you prefer the Panchenko book, great! As I said, there are many, many great endgame books out there. The key isn't selecting one book over another. The key is actually studying the book you do choose.

Better for whom??? There are probably 5-10 excellent endgame books (Dvorestsky, Muller and Panchenko are among them). Now it's up to you to decide whan suits you better. GM Gregory Kaidanov said in an interview: “the best book is the book the student falls in love with”. I fully agree. I am in love with "Six Hundred Endings" by Portisch and Sarkozy (in Russian) and "100 Endgames You Must Know" by Jesus de la Villa.

There are many endgame books , that is true,  but only FEW exceptional authors. Like you said Dvoretsky, Panchenko etc...

So must be a reason why people prefer this authors over others .

Two thumbs up for @uri65's post #16! I also agree completely with GM Kaidanov's quote.

Yes there must be a reason. And? Those reasons are often way too personal. For example I prefer books that exist in digital format (Chessbase, Forward chess etc.). I also value a good balance between text and variations, clear page layout etc.

You can try to read Amazon reviews to see how people explain their preferences.
