Been listening to a lot of Beethoven...the seventh symphony has accompanied some of my better results OTB.
Hey, this blog is interesting. I too am searching for soft music for relaxing at tournament. Thanks all for sharing the links.

I'm looking for some good music to listen to during tournament games. A lot of my favorite bands are too distracting for me to listen to while playing.
Isn't music that you regard as good, ie which appeals to you, always going to be a distraction? Would a World Championship contender listen to music while playing?
Is that even within any federations tournament rules? Personaly I would find my opponent listening to music while playing rather disrespectful, wether it was in the rules or not.
Classical music can be a good tip, although it depends...I can't imagine playing chess while listening to Stravinsky's The Rite of Spring. :) I can recommend my favourite ambient/folk project Nest from Finland:

When I'm listening this kind of music, I feel like my mind is clearing. Give it a try if you want to. :)
Also, if you're into Jazz, try French café and easygoing modal Jazz.
