Have you been so frustrated after a game that you punched and broke your laptop screen?

Or broke something else in anger and frustration.

I have.

andrewnox

No, because that would be really stupid, and expensive. I've been angry about losing a game, but not to the point of breaking stuff.

No. If I ever did that, I would consider counselling. And medication. Maybe both.
IpswichMatt

Smashed up my mouse in the past when "Age of Empires" was going badly, and I'd been drinking.

On another beered-up occasion I aimed a kick at my fridge, lost my balance and fell backwards onto my toolbox - breaking my coccyx. Usually I'm victorious in my fights against inanimate objects, but I lost that one.

wanmokewan

No.  If you're doing that, that means you should stop playing.

I was sometimes close to do something stupid like this, but I didn't. Don't listen to the negative comments, you are able to have sometimes emotional reactions, and you didn't punch a player and you didn't hurt anybody. But such strong reactions are typical for blitz, not for Daily Chess, right?
JayeshSinhaChess

Yes the laptop screen was the result of a blitz game.

Amelia

I'm so glad you didn't take it out on your opponent! Perhaps not as gratifying, but definitely cheaper, sometimes holding your fist up in the air and shouting is cathartic in such a situation.  (Maybe not in a Library.)

Not in chess, and not on a computer, although a C program I was trying to debug 30+ years ago nearly got that reaction.  Do not drink and debug at the same time.

Once playing golf I hurled a pitching wedge after a particularly poor shot... into a tree where it was lodged and lost forever, mocking me every time I came to that hole.  Do not drink and play golf at the same time.

I quit drinking 27 years ago.  Still play lousy chess and occasionally, lousy golf.  Not angry anymore either... hmmm, go figure...

My last drink was over a year ago.  Dont miss it.

Well, I destroyed a cuff-link when banging my fist on a table - in a chess.com live Blitz game. A case of halluciantion and not calculating correctly.

No at that point it is a very good idea to play a different game for a while. I switch over to playing Poker from time to time ( for points only tho   lol ).

irooludrool
I’ve never broke anything but I have run around my house yelling and screaming like a lunatic on many occasions.

Why I break the laptop - exhibit A. Totally crushing someone 300 points higher and then THAT. No screens were broken after this game though. Largely because I broke it a few days ago. If had not broken the screen a few days back, a screen was getting broken after that game.

There are those moments in life... Going commando the first time in a decade and ending up in hospital, being asked to remove one's pants nervous.png

Today, I really blew it big time. No mouse (costs me time) and then this near the end!! Am bathing in shame and remorse. https://www.chess.com/live/game/2744117061

Terminator-T800

I have came close a few times but I'm not rich enough to punch my pc

fischerrook

I do cuss the screen sometimes, but I am usually mad at myself for screwing up. I had a good plan here, but I let him slip away. When I looked at the analysis, it was so simple. I missed a mate in 1. He turned it on me and actually beat me. Those stick with you for a while.  Its like all that time working on tactics and you can't finish someone off when it counts....geez. You either get better or quit playing.

Terminator-T800

It happen's to us all at some point I think. Unlucky with that game fischerrook... I think we just need to learn to pay full attention at all times. I have a problem with rushing moves when I think everything is under control.

I'm never giving up this game. NEVER NEVER NEVER  bullet.png

Forkedupagain

I was playing a game of blitz on my phone and got caught in a perpetual check... I threw my phone across the room at the couch it bounced off  and broke the screen. I went from being pissed off to being totally stupid in less than a second.
