Hi guy's have you played shogi Before?

I have a Shogi app on Android that I can play against the computer. It's an excellent game, and deeper than Chess, less draws too. The big problem I run into is that, unlike Chess, Shogi does not have the easy access to learning, game data bases, etc. Chess has cool looking piece symbols when printed in a book, but Shogi game transcriptions are terrible. I think Shogi would be a lot more popular if they made it more visually accessible. I like how the pieces move slower, overall, more like a war strategy game. But the absence of pawn blocking is kind of weird.

Shogi is a fantastic game, but the Japanese representation is so awful that it will never acquire any popularity outside of Japan. This is really too bad. WinBoard supports Shogi in a Chess-style pictogram representation:

It can read games in PSN ('Portable Shogi Notation') format, but only westerners use that notation,so it is not much help. The development version of WinBoard/XBoard is also able to read games in the Japanese Kifu format (.kif), so it could be used as a viewer for those.
