I have created a group called Hedgehog Loversif you play the Hedgehog setup from either side of the chessboard, or if you like hedgehogs (the animal), or if you just want to learn more about this awesome opening/animal, then come join this group!

Also, the first 2 lucky members to join get to be admins!

Very interesting game, I like the g4 pawn sac idea to open up the g-file for an attack on the king. I'll be making a Hedgehog games forum in the group for people to post their games!

Aaaand, the second lucky member has joined, spamalert, and as promised, he is promoted to admin!

It doesn't seem like a huge blunder, but now that I look at it again, dxc5 might give black better chances at attacking your king.

Here's one of mine:

Too lazy to annotate Tongue Out

I annotated this same game in the Hedgehog Lovers group, so I thought: no need to annotate it again!

DrSpudnik

Do I have to stick my head in an empty toilet paper roll?

Talonflame_Fan

LOL that's funny Laughing

DrSpudnik

They're so cute. They stick their heads in a paper roll and run around. I guess they think they're running through a tunnel.

If you think hedgehogs are awesome, then what are you waiting for!

The hedgehog position is pretty interestng too.

Talonflame_Fan

Yep, it contains great latent energy that you can release through pawn breaks in the center like b5 or d5.

FreshDefense

When can you use this setup, with white and black?

You can use it any time, with white you just play c4,b3,a3,d3,e3,Nf3,Nd2,Be2,Qc2,Rc1,Rd1, with black, basically the same thing. If you want to learn more you can join the group!

Daniel King's Fritz Trainer on the Hedgehog is a must for Hedgehog lovers.

King likes the hog against Bg2 lines but is not so sure about the f3 (Be2) lines from the black perspective. From the white side I'm fairly confident with the f3 lines. Develop and push queenside pawns up the board seems a simple minded but effective strategy.
