Hello fellow chess players, I just started chess and I want you to rate my most recent game. Also guys please, please don't just hate for no reason and I hope everyone has a good day.

Also, I'm really new so I shouldn't really be playing bullet but who really cares. I'll play of times too. Oh yeah, I just joined our school chess club  ◉‿◉

You are white?

You should have taken the pawn on move 2 because if you move one of your knights it could be kicked with d4 or dxe4. Luckily, your opponent didn’t see that

You made a couple other mistakes and misses, but you were still winning anyway, so it didn’t matter that much.

Even when you are winning, you should calculate just add much because your opponent could turn the tables if you slip up.

Yeah, but it was a one minute bullet game so I really didn't have that much time to calculate. Thank you for your feedback.

By the way, you said you would play longer time controls, so I looked at your games and found a 30min game, but you only used 10 minutes in 40 moves. That’s about 15 seconds per move!

If you play long time controls, use your time to think

Okay, usually I really don't notice because I usually calculate pretty fast.

Just keep playing consistently and you'll naturally progress in skill and rating.

Good job 👏 the way you keep the tension in the centre is something advanced players do, normally people with your rating are like 'i see a piece, I take a piece' but you did not do that

My only advice is you need to know when to open the center like when you castled but your opponent did not, break open the center so you can attack easily, and vica versa, if they are castled and you are not, close the center so they can't attack

Thank you all

It is difficult to give constructive criticism when both players are beginners and make so many egregious mistakes. Pointing out how you and your opponent gave away material will not be very helpful

My general advice to beginners is:

1. Play slow time controls so you have time to think

2. Learn basic opening principles: develop quickly, control the center, castle, avoid moving pawns in front of your king. You shouldn’t play bullet or blitz until you have mastered these.

3. Always check your opponent’s threats before moving.

4. in the middlegame, avoid weakening your pawn structure. That is, avoid doubling and isolating your pawns.

Yeah, thinking about I took about two seconds for each move and I don't premove so...
