Hi

I have downloaded  scid vs pc and searched all over the web for some databases to download into scid vs pc for studying openings and chess games.  I have downloaded some twic pgn files, but when I try to open them in scid vs pc there are just errors because they are in zip format. I also have this problem with a 2,2 million game database but that file are in exe. What should I do?

Here are some links to follow:  https://www.chess.com/forum/view/general/icofy-chess-database---where

What operating system are you using? Linux is my favorite, but if you're using Windows, it has built-in tools to unzip a file.  Right-click and select unzip/extract.  Once the files our on you PC as PGN files, you should have no problem opening them with Scid or Scid vs. PC.

Cheers.

I'm not entirely sure, but I suspect that this file may be a self-extracting archive (possibly a 7-Zip one). If that's the case, double-clicking the file should bring up a dialog where you can specify what directory the contents should be unpacked into. After unpacking, it should be possible to import the database into Scid.

The OP hasn't logged on in 5 weeks. Maybe he gave up on the problem, or maybe he solved his problem. Whatever...
