Any advice?
Help! My rating is 650 in live chess (blitz)

Play lots of games Slow (10+ minutes each) games are best so you have time to think. Also join chesstempo.com for practicing tactics. You'll soon improve.

Just play more slow chess and think about your opponents threats and whether your pieces are defended.
Playing more SLOW chess will make you better. Blitz chess doesn't really improve skills, it just shows how far you know openings and which patterns you can quickly spot.
A lot of people seem to come to chess.com to start playing chess and go straight to blitz/bullet chess and wonder why they don't improve. Play games at least 30 0 so you have time to think over moves and learn from the games.
Also slowly go over your games after and look for where you went wrong to improve.
Ok! If I play slow chess every day, and then after doing that for a while, I will try some blitz, when can I have my rating back up to a realistic rating? (1100-1300)

Just play some chess puzzle on some smartphone like in android phone where there are app like
1. chess tactics pro
2. analyse this
3. iCHESS

I highly suggest you use chess mentor on the "Learn" section at the top of the page, you can do a ton of very very well made lessons for free, it really helped me get going.
Always try keep in mind the bascis, keep an eye on the whole board, control the center.
Even if you feel you already know what chess mentor teaches you, it drills it into your brain so you will never forget.
Good luck, and if you ever wan't to train or practise something, post on my wall and i'll help you out :)

Doesn't help you lost 3 games on time on long chess.
http://www.chess.com/livechess/game?id=331762248 Why did you resign?! You were infact way ahead in points and his postion was only a tiny bit better...

Only God knows how it is possible to end up with a rating of 600.
I would seriously consider another hobby, if you have tried chess for a few months and only got this far.
Last login 2012. I think he has.

And by the way, I can hang with people with ratings up to 2000!
Probably realized this wasn't true, even without the factorial.

Please don't listen to Peppinu. Anyone over the age of 40 or so who starts chess is unlikely ever to reach 1000 anyway. But since he's master-level, he can't understand this.
Peppinu makes these sorts of comments a lot, and it's reminiscent of Kasporov_Jr, but because of the fact that he is titled, no one from chess.com will enforce the rules and punish him for his obnoxious comments.
Anyway, as for the OP, I recommend to analyze the hell out of every position you get before playing a move. Your goal should be never to be surprised by a move your opponent makes. After the game, do postgame analysis and be thorough!
Yes, I recognize the OP may not be on chess.com anymore, but other players in this rating range might be, and I take very high exception to the crap that comes out of Peppinu's mouth considering the fact that there are a lot of people in those rating ranges and it's very frustrating to improve at that level.

I'd agree if you said 2000, but I would think just about anyone could reach 1000 eventually, even if they start late in life. Anyway it doesn't fundamentally matter, if your rating is stuck at 600 and you enjoy playing chess, keep playing. If your rating is 2400 and chess no longer interests you, you might as well quit.

Look it's about being practical. If you are stuck at a rating of 600ish after a few months at chess, the plain truth is you must have very little natural aptitude for it. You are unlikely to reach satisfying milestones and play games of a level you can reasonably be proud of. Fair enough if you just enjoy pushing wood there is nothing to stop you but if you desire a sense of achievement in your pastimes it might be worth looking elsewhere.
A chessplayer who is stuck at a rating of 600 is like a gardener who will never grow any plants successfully...What is the point?
I see the OP had long left chess.com. He seems to have followed my advice before I even wrote it
You're making the assumption that the material was learned or taught well. You'd be a terrible nuclear physicist if someone told you that 1+1=3 and you just tried to wing it from there.
Lol saying you 'can hang with people with 2000 ratings' is like saying "you see those vagrants over there? they look cool"

is 600 even a level?
In truth, stop playing online chess if you dont play long play games. At this level, spend time at a chess club and get some guidance from stonger players. Even then, no guarantee as even in many chess clubs I have been in, there are always some players that I would describe as very week club players who have been regularly playing most of the life. They never seem to improve.....just don't have the aptitude for it.
Forget about being a Master (a proper one at over 2300), without a natural ability, there is no chance.

my game is really improved by chess.com
i have tactics rating of 1947, chess mentor 2051
and my poeak online chess rating is 1701 after that due to exams i stopped playing and lost many games due to timeouts

Only God knows how it is possible to end up with a rating of 600.

Actually, it isn't taht hard.
Sub 800 players only know how the pieces move. Losses waiting on the board in order are:
1. Hanging pieces.
2. Lack of threat recognition.
3. Counting.
4. Time.
So my advice for U800's is don't hang pieces. Move/defend attacked pieces or counter attack the King/Queen. Learn how to count attackers/defenders.
Play the time control where you win/lose less than 5% of games on time.
There, that'll get you to 1000.
Okay guys, I am about ready to throw in the towel with chess. I thought I was a decent chess player, then I joined chess.com. I was doing okay at first, my rating ranging from 1100-1200. Then, as I started playing live more often, my ratings dropped from 1100 to 600-750! I thought playing more chess was supposed to make you better. I would like to become a master someday, butI feel as if I am the worst chess player in the world. And by the way, I can hang with people with ratings up to 2000!
