I am looking to start a chess club....obviously. I live in a very small town of only 30,000k. I have never even participated in any club chess groups. This is just an idea I have as I am what you would call a "freind of the library." I spoke with the director this morning about starting one up and he has approved it. Right now I have nothing but my own personal chess set. I will have to do a little fundraising and get some more sets together. I figured ten would do to start with. That's room for 20 people. Doubt we will have that many. Even 5 would be a great number and the library is interested in anything that brings people in. Please describe your experiences with chess clubs. What do you do? Do you have people speak? Do you just play? Scoring? Just anything that you think could help a novice player start a club. Thanks
