This is the most desirable thing. Is not it?

Kingpatzer

It depends entirely on why you want to use the engine as to if it's desirable or not.

No, an engine is used, in my view, as something to check the soundness of your moves when the game is over. Best to play humans if you want something that plays like humans.Tongue Out

Some people like playing their computers, and for very valid reasons: such as wanting to practice specific lines or ideas, which can be difficult to arrange with another person.

So again, it depends on the reason you want to use the engine.

I think most people are looking for a tool to help the analyze positions more than to be a sparring partner. But that doesn't mean the sparring partner  use is invalid.
