I play exclusive on phone and manage to get a Daily ratings of 1520 and Blitz ratings of 1800. Playing on a small screen is certainly disadvantageous and I am a bit proud to get this ratings. I want to hear from other phone players and their ratings.

I too play on phone and I have to admit it's not as good as playing on computer. As of past 3 months I have been playing on phone and I only play daily games ( I don't like live chess in phone). I am not a high rated player 1100+ daily and 950+ blitz.

Playing 10 minutes blitz on phone is quite a challenge. I have to focus on touching the right square. After 30 moves, I'm on time pressure as there's a lag in making every move in phone compare to mouse move.

(Crackle Crunch) I almost exclusively play on an iPhone. I find a touch screen easier than a mouse. (Crackle) But perhaps that is because I am a tortoise. (Crackle)

At the end of the day, it depends on your skill, with device being a small portion of it.

I play mostly on a phone and mobile browser. Moving to the wrong square or having the wrong piece move happens occasionally, but I'm a bit faster than I am on a full screen with a mouse (less distance to travel).

I have to agree with you. I have 40 years playing experience and I studied many books, analyze hundreds maybe thousands of Masters games.

I play almost exclusively on a phone. I didn't realise it was a disadvantage. Will I make 1400 if I change devices? 😁 Currently 1300ss (small screen).

I played on iPad all the way up to 1900 in 10 min blitz and all the way up to 1800 on bullet.

Is that OK?

Now I play on trackpad. There's no more lag when doing multiple premoves but the disadvantage is that my arm gets super stiff.

TheCalculatorKid

I play on my phone. I'm 1700 bullet and soon to be 1700 blitz.

I’ve lost every game I’ve played on a phone (~10)

most of the times it’s because I have a piece.

SuperbLogic

I am a phone player. I am happy for what I have and I am hapoy I can play chess. I was above  2000 for a period of time. Opponents got stronger a few months ago. Or maybe I got weaker.

Maybe it's because you stopped playing. When I stopped playing as frequently I saw my rating slowly decline

I think it’s just what you’re used to. I pretty much only play bullet on a small iphone. My ratings don’t fluctuate that much whichever device I use.

Steven-ODonoghue

I played bullet on my phone yesterday and lost almost 300 points. (2500 -> 2200) Won't be doing that again.

Chess games don't really happen on a phone, computer, or a board. The calculation, planning, analysis all take place in the players' brains. The visual component is just a sort of record keeping.  And some people can play blindfolded.
