SO BIG IT IS UNMEASURABLE!!!!!!!!
And so small, it cannot be seen with the most powerful microscope.

There is probably a necessary component of ego to incent the majority of people to master competition chess.
"I like the moment I break a man's ego" -Bobby Fischer
You "doubt" I was trying to have fun, when that's predominately what I do on this forum wiith my OPs?
What's the point of having fun in public forums if you are always alone? Nobody had any fun here from what I've seen. Same with the other pointless wanna-be funny threads.
Nobody is offended. Flatly put you made some dumb comments and were call on those comments. And I doubt you were honestly trying to have fun. Frankly, I've seen this kind of posting a million times. We all have. Somebody says something dumb, gets call out on saying said dumb thing, then falls back the behind the "geez, I was only joking, you guys are soooo serious" routine.
You "doubt" I was trying to have fun, when that's predominately what I do on this forum wiith my OPs? You think I came here to insult Magnus? Seriously? Yeah, you're not offended at what I posted, just at what I posted. So much so you have to argue and belittle (and far more scathingly than anything I said about Magnus, I might add), about how dumb it was and even go so far as to tell me how I felt and what my intentions were for posting it? You're far too impassioned and hostile not to have been offended. As usual, I was kidding around. I understand why some people didn't like it in retrospect, but I still think they could lighten up rather than me heavying down.
How would I not respect Magnus? I can barlely climb up to 1300 on a great week in blitz.
I never said you did not respect Magnus. It is possible to respect someone, or at least some aspect of them, while also thinking they're egomaniacal or otherwise unsavory in some aspect. Case in point: Bobby Fischer. I admire the hell out of Fischer as a chess player while also thinking him dislikable as a person.
Impassioned? Nope. I just call it like I see it. Also, I have not began to insult you. If I do, believe me, you'll know it.

OK, that's cool. Well, I was just goofing around. When I saw the reddit post I thought - I've never seen someone just lay it down like that and it was stunning. Of course the merits speak for themselves, but if I didn't know better (and I didn't) it sounded braggy. I'm not even saying it wasn't well deserved. It obviously is, and correct. I never doubted that for a moment. Anyway, I wasn't trying to offend people/ I thought people would enjoy the thread. I wasn't trying to make a big deal. Some of the comments, which unfortunately the staff deleted, that someone else posted, I thought were hilarious (like the one with the beachball). I bet Magnus might even snicker at that one. I thought his post had a humorous element to it.
And the face plant replies are hilarious too.
Great personalities need ego, without ego they are like pepper without pungency.
Everyone needs an ego in the adult world. Without one you'd be like a baby and probably an insane one at that. And great personalities can be quite humble, unaware almost, of how great they are. Proof? Lot's of great personalities are humble. The big egos in Chess is mainly to pep them into being good and intimidation. That's what I think about the big egos in sports.

he's got a decent sense of humor
i remmeber one video he made something along the lines of
"hello play magnus players, please be sure to send me your games so i can laugh at them, and give you feedback!"

I assumed he did. Some people are furious with me because they think I denigrated their Holiness, the sacred cow. I think people can laugh at themselves for something as tame as what I posted. Lord knows, I've sung Magnus' praises enough. I wish I had a fraction of his skills. I think a little harmless fun about him is, shall we say, harmless. I am also convinced he could look at what he posted on Reddit and recognize the humorous potential and not be offended by a question about how big his ego is.
but there are 3 sides to a coin of finite thickness
Most coins have more than three sides and no coin has any less than three.
But have you ever seen a coin land on the inside?
Not even the inside of your palm?
