How can you get a FIDE rating?

Thats correct but my problem is l do not know how to find fide rated games or tournaments for a unrated player like me

None of them are in Australia though so its tough

@medelpad :
It's not that easy - without the ID you won't be allowed to participate in the FIDE rated tournament. Some organizers are ready to provide you with an ID (of the host country, of course),
but other organizers tell you that you have to contact your national chess federation before to provide you with an ID. If not all participants have an ID, the organizer risks that FIDE refuses a rating evaluation.
Anyone can get a FIDE Rating, if you can get your level of play up I used to have one that was 45 years ago when I was young and hungry ( but this has to be achieved in over the board F.I.D.E. events) THATS OVER THE BOARD PLAY NOT ON-LINE!??

Join a local chess club, they will most likely be able to help you with becoming a member of your national chess federation and obtaining a FIDE ID.
Yes that's correct, that's how I started, join a local chess club, your learn more, progress more and as you improve you can start to climb that latter, 1st rung, play
For your local county league, then as you get better playing over the board your next goal will be get picked to represent your county team, then your ready to ready for your local national federation your club can help with your registration and get your first taste of tournament over the board competitions, competition there is tough and you only get out what you put into it!! But that's proper chess not online pretences if it's a proper title you want you will only get this with over the board play through your national federations!!
I want to achieve a fide rating but don't know where to find the tournaments to apply for because l don't have a fide rating?
