I am just now starting to learn more than where the basic pieces go. I am currently 25 years old. I learned how the pieces work and where they go a while ago but never had anyone to play with but recently my wife bought a chess board and we played with one of our friends and I was like "Wow! I am really bad!" lol. So about a week ago I started searching around for stuff and ended up on this website and from then on I've been hooked. I have only been at it a week but I am going at it everyday learning the opening moves, practicing tactics, etc. Hopefully someday I will be good at it but for now I am just starting. =)
How did you learn to play chess?

Hi Tyler! Thank you for replying to my post. Glad to hear you have begun playing chess again. We are never too old to pick up the game again and advance our knowledge! I am in my early 30s and have a much better appreciation for chess now, than when I was younger.
If you go to the main screen of Chess.com, on the left hand side menu select "Learn" and the second option will be "Lessons". Here is a good place to start and learn some basics of the game of chess.
You can complete the "New to chess" section for free, and the first video lesson of the other categories, but you need to subscribe to a Chess.com membership in order to complete all of the Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced sections. There are three different levels of memberships and each one will allow you to complete a higher level of difficulty for the lessons sections.
Good luck in your journey with chess!
Nathan
How did you learn to play chess and around what age?
My mother taught me when I was a child (maybe 8-9 years old). I will forever be grateful that she did. It has taught me discipline and how to lose a game gracefully. Even though you may lose a game of chess, you can still learn a lot from the experience.
Cheers!
