It can also be achieved with the white playing f4 instead of f3 in the first move.

Try doing longer games so you can think and won’t need to worry about time, also play like trading.Trading pieces can get you to a perfect endgame.And don’t give away pieces.
Agreed, I mostly trade pieces until the endgame. It causes the games to go by quicker, I normally win them b/c I like to believe I'm good at endgames.
