Hi, I’d like to ask how I could possibly counter a queen and rook fork; more specifically, a rook and queen fork with a knight. Oftentimes, this happens in the beginning of my game, my pieces aren’t sufficiently developed enough, and it is being protected by a bishop, so I can’t take it. I thought one way of countering that move was to move one of those pieces before they had a chance to fork those pieces, preferably my rook, but I’ve heard there’s a more effective way to do this. Anything else I can do? Thanks.
Moving the knight to the edge of the board is not the nicest thing to do. Don’t listen do it unless you have no choice. If your early you can move your Queen to stop the knight from entering whilst also developing. If your late you may have to attempt to give a check with your Queen and then save the rook, but it most likely will not work, if your opponent has castled off they can attack your Queen with tempo while defending check.
Work on reading the board so that you can catch those tricky horses before they enter your territory.
