My current rating in standard chess and online chess is in 1400s and my best rating in both have been over 1500 but i wanna be a better player , probably with a rating of over 2000 how do i do that?

1. Play lots of 30/0 live chess and review your games with a chess program.

2. Read a good chess book for positional/strategic understanding (like Silman's reassess your chess)

3. Spend every waking minute of every waking hour doing tactical puzzles until you see the dance of the chess pieces in your dreams...

ErictheRed78

Don't do that many tactical puzzles.  Have a decent foundation of basic tactics--maybe spend 10 minutes a day solving them--and spend the rest of your time reading books on strategy, annotated games, etc.

Play a lot of chess with the greatest player ever "Gaurav - The KNIGHT"!

a balanced approach of tactics, positional play, endgame study etc.. Bear in mind that strategic play at the level your playing takes a backseat to tactics and just good ol' sound playing.  an effective thought process is one rarely mentioned area of study and yet one of the most foundational. I assume you have either authored, or at least read, this book? Would you be so kind as to give a short synopsis of the thought process the book promotes?  Without any Amazon reviews it is difficult to know if this is a good book to buy...

Thank you very much Mr. Yeres 30 for analyzing my games and telling my mistakes , actually i lose most of my games same way anyhow you told me the right direction to work and moreover i gonna look forward to evryone's advice and work hard with chess and very soon my ratings are gonna be better and better...:)

I like Estragon's advice, to which I might add the following quotes by Capablanca

In order to improve your game, you must study the endgame before everything else. For whereas the endings can be studied and mastered by themselves, the opening and middle game   must be studied in relation to the end game.

The best way to learn endings, as well as openings, is from the games of the masters.

The game might be divided into three parts, the opening, the middle-game and the end-game. There is one thing you must strive for, to be equally efficient in the three parts.

You may learn much more from a game you lose than from a game you win. You will have to lose hundreds of games before becoming a good player

Hello,I am a 14 year old with 800 rating playing chess. I have understood the fundamentals of the game. How can i make it to the next level?

1. Analyse you previous games and figure out....

     * Blunders

     * Mistakes

     * Missed Wins

2. Find Someone higher than your Elo rating, Become Friends and Challenge them regularly and then repeat point 1.

3. Similarly, find more and more players above your rating and try to mate them.

Don’t foucus on your ratings. Just play and have your ratings do what they do.
