I recommend playing 20 minutes and thinking about your moves.

Agreed

I play 10 minutes and usually I don't do many blunders

AunTheKnight
If so, how are you 700?
I_make_mistakes_16

If his goal is to become a life long 1000 online player, then he is correct in what he posted.

I used to be around 700 a few months ago, not I’m almost 1550 Rapid. I recommend doing a lot of puzzles. If you don’t have diamond membership, then I recommend doing puzzles on Lichess, you get unlimited amount for free. On top of that, I recommend learning a few good openings and tricks and getting good with it. I remember, my rating exploded once I learned openings and tricks like the Vienna and Traxler.

@CandyXXV that’s an amazing burst of progress. You have almost 1700 games.

How many games did it take for your “speed run” and what time controls are you playing

Thank-you

Sorry for the late reply just started getting into chess again. I really don't know how many games it took me, but I really just played whenever I had the time and didn't have anything else to do. The main time control I played was 10 minute games, and I always analyzed the games afterwards with the free self-analysis tool. You really start building on the knowledge and start recognizing more patterns as you do this, and since I always played the same opening, I slowly learned all the tricks and responses to what my opponents would play against me in the opening.

TrickyConman

At your level, I'd say "By not hanging pieces"

Learn the Stafford gambit, I learnt it very extensively and win about 70% of my games with it. It is very dangerous at the 1400 level so I am sure it would work at 700.
