how do they move so fast

I've been watching GM's playing on internet short 3min games and I noticed when it comes to last few seconds, the speed and the movement of chess pieces is almost beyond human. No matter how fast I can try, for me it's just impossible to move this fast. Do they use some special software? What do they initiate moves with, mouse? keyboard? It looks like chess martial arts towards the end :) 

I agree Vil, I play 3 min blitz games on an iPad, and have to make 3 touches to completed a move: touch the piece, touch the destination, touch 'submit' (I know I could eliminate 'submit', but I need it otherwise I make too many wrong moves). I've been beaten on time when I've had >30/40 secs left vs. my oponent's <10 secs. I feel a bt cheated when I lose in those circumstances.

How do you play that fast??

Are premoves allowed here?

You can just hoover the piece on the destination square. Then you release the mouse button, unless it's a real blunder. It takes a few seconds to make another move, but for a piece it can be worth it.

there is an art to pre-moving every move. literally. if someone hangs a piece, it's only picked up (if still there) on the *next* move. the fastest players (at the end of the game, full scramble mode) pre-move every move in order to avoid being flagged. there is logic, like checking people unexpectedly, unpredictably, so that the opponent *has* to choose a move. so it's one click, and it's before you really even register your opponent's move.

in one of my recent games, i was in a time scramble where both me and my opponent had like 5-15 seconds, and we were in a drawn rook vs rook endgame, and my opponent blundered his rook. it took me 41 moves, and i didnt know that i was actually really close to the 50 move rule while i was playing. i was not premoving, and i know i can, and probably to things much faster, i simply cant take the risk when i'm up a rook in an endgame, because the possiblility of me dropping my rook randomly in an unprotected square is considerably moderate?

For me, even 10 minute game is too fast
