Tbh I had totally read the title as "Titled player" at first and needed to read the full post to understand what you were asking.
I think it has a lot to do with the person's ego - with a big one, you won't accept defeat easily thus you'll find excuses for it and react more violently than you should. I have never seen a humble player being tilted (whatever the game for that matter).
I'm asking myself the same question.
By letting ego get in the way. Usually It starts (for me) by dropping a game or two with stupid mistakes - often when tired or whatever - then carrying on playing in search of a victory, often quicker and more recklessly... often end up with losing runs 5 or 6 games before I realize what I'm doing and stop playing. Lamentable lack of self awareness, although it only really happens with online blitz, never had it in face to face games

30 years ago, I have no idea how to do it.
I'm not saying that only the titled players know how to become one., but they have actually done it! And that counts for something. When I see someone confidently lay out such an extremely detailed program, I have to ask myself: "Does this guy know what he's talking about?" Particularly when I have watched quite a few juniors rise to the rank of master without following anything like the regimen that bong711 describes. There are certainly non-master coaches who have helped guide talented youngsters to a title, but the internet is also full of people who shoot their mouths off without knowing what they're talking about. I'm sometimes one of those people! Although I try not to be.
Mark Dvoretsky is very much a special case. His credible finishes in a couple of Soviet championships, and his win at the 1975 Wijk aan Zee tournament indicate that he was of grandmaster strength. But he made a personal choice to devote himself to coaching, teaching, and writing. We are all the richer for his having made that decision

You're certainly right about endgames and hard work. No disagreement there!
I finally don't know which I enjoyed more: those who explained how to become titled, or <Toppa72> who actually shed light on the process that leads to the inevitable tilt in some situations (even though it hurts much more in backgammon or poker - because there you have an option that you don't have in chess: to raise the stakes in order to "compensate yourself for all of your losses", yeah, right :-) ).
Honorary mention to several funny answers near the beginning of the thread - including <Rocky64> (the usernames with chess-related numbers do get it!) - we've seen this particular titled player achieve tilt in more than one sense - but always in a good way.
