i play people in real life, but not tournaments.

It's like playing chess online, if you play other rated players you get your own rating, you can't ask the same question and get the same answer and then ask the same question again,

Obviously, the answer is the same, get a rating from rated players, like 1500 a 200 a 600, there's no translation its a different skill group, chess.com gets ratings by what rating you fit into at your skill level,

Do you get a OTB rating after you play in any tournoment that has some FIDE connection or do you need to request one or...

?

Ziryab

If you play in a rated OTB event, you will get a rating. Most OTB events are rated. In the US, most events are rated through the the USCF, but there are also FIDE events (usually only the top sections of large tournaments).

Just the rating that you get by playing over the board (OTB) and no by playing online platforms like chess.com

I don't know. Why do people complain about posting on old threads on knockoff social media?

One reason is that very few new threads are of any value.

well yeah, but after the tournament, where do you find your otb?

For those in the US, https://www.uschess.org/msa/

For Australia, https://auschess.org.au/rating-lists/

The best way to determine your OTB rating without playing in a tournament is this, play a ranked player 10ish times and let them watch you play other people. Then they will probably be able to determine it for you.
