How do you know I cheat?

You see, there is a rule in this site that said you can't cheat with chess programs during a game right?~ Well, I am not saying that I cheat but what do you do if senerios like the below happen?

First One:

Lets say, My friend is very good at chess and wins at a rate of 99%+ against rank 2000s. What if I ask him/her to help me play my games and tournies? Well, it is unlikely that you can find him or her or know that I cheat right?

Second One:

This may work in 1 computer but I want to make it tricky. I have 3 computers... 1 for gaming, 1 for working and 1 for chess. So one day I decide to use two computers for cheating. One computer has the super chess programs to help me win~ ( Enter the moves into the program to get my best moooove~ =) . Try to catch me :D~~

So... how do you know I cheated..>.<

MapleDanish

First one... there's no way to know.

Second one... cheating isn't detected by hacking into your computer :P... Engines play a different 'style' of chess that is very easy to detect with other engines.  Statistical analysis would be done and you'd be banned in a week :).

EndingPride

Sure~!~ :D

The first one does not apply for me because I have no friend of mine that plays chess~

Nice nut brain~ ih8sens~

But again~: If I got banned, I can make another account, add my friends back and the rank won't even be a problem~ then I cheat again :D!~ lol that is just dum eh~?

MapleDanish

You'd get your IP banned, so you couldn't even access the site (in theory :P).

So what if you use a proxy site to bypass an ip-ban?

then your a little bit weird, going to those lengths to cause trouble on a chess website

MapleDanish

Judging by the people that try to hack their work's computer, I have a sneaking suspicion most proxy's don't work well anyways :P.

But yeah... if you really wanna waste your time hacking into chess.com only to be banned a couple days later.  ... go nuts :)

Why would you feel proud of winning?  It's your friend or your computer that won; you'd be just a loser.

MindlessIndulgence

Agreed. Perhaps some people get satisfaction out of winning without actually doing any of the thinking, but it would seem to take the fun out of things.

You people do know that some people are the kind that: Other people's pain is their gain" right? It explains why I love AFV (American's funniest home video)... to see how people get hurt because they are so dum :D~ (I am a sadist)~

It's called magic!! :p lol

If you are winning outside of your capabilities experienced chess players will detect it.  The real issue is why go to such extremes to win?  What is the point?

jpd303

why would you cheat?  ratings points aren't worth anything other than for the ego.  by using a computer, or another person, to choose your moves you automatically "devalue" the ratings points gained by cheating because you didn't pick the moves using your own knowledge and capabilities.  if you are seeking monetary rewards through cheating, by winning tournaments or such, then that's just reprehensible.

Simply by winning I've been accused of cheating. Anybody looking over my games will quickly realize i'm no pro, but sadly their are such people that will go to such lenghts to cheat. i have a Kasparov 2000 but hardly ever turn it on. I enjoy the challenge and conversations too much to cheat. Waste of time.

Why are you so interested in cheating ?   Why care if someone cheats  ?

For future reference, dumb is spelled with a 'b' on the end.  You may also want to look up the word "irony."

dadiekool

sounds to me you put a lot of effort into something you say you don't do

my question is if you win by cheating  does it improve you skill.do you feel better knowing you cant win on your own

synergetic4d

ok so I used a database for awhile to help me learn standard openingmoes,I have a Batsford book of opens now that I may check insometimes to try to learn basic patterns, but I pick which moves to make , does anyone consider that cheating?I havent used it in a long time now but really think that I should to refresh my memory. what do you all thinkabout that?

BaronDerKilt

Here's something of a hypothetical to consider. While there might be people willing to go to the trouble to cheat at Chess, just to prove a point. Perhaps that no net site is secure if someone is nutty enough to take the trouble. (duh, who woulda guessed, hey? But look how easy I got into this one. I typed a nik and registered, and all I know is where the wallplug is. But my name is not really BaronDerKilt. Don't tell anyone :)

But then again there might be Official type people nutty enough to actually Look for people who break into poorly defended Chess sites. In fact, maybe they Dangle the poorly defended Chess site in front of you just to find bad hacker types that can't Resist, or else lead them to better hacker types. Now consider the fact that anyone in the world (except one maybe) can be found with enough nutty time wasting effort ... all of a sudden the Chess cheater has not only the Feds searching for him, but also all his old ("paranoid"? nah, not hackers. Couldnt be) Friends, because they don't want to be found thru him. Hey, you better check into the witness protection program if you been doing this. IMO. Hypothetically.  What I'm thinking is, right after that one guy gets found ... well all those wristwatch reading satellites can be turned on to Chess Cheaters

}8-)  LOL
