just move the king where you want him
How do you make a castling move?

To castle, the king moves 2 places in either direction, and the rook automatically swings around to the other side of him. However, if either piece (the king or the rook being used) has been moved before, you cannot castle. Also, you cannot castle out of check or thru check. Hope this helps.

It is a two step. Once all pieces have cleared between king and rook, the king moves two squares towards the rook then the rook jumps over the king and lands next to him.
This can only be done if:
1. neither the respective rook or the king have moved before attempting to castle
2. the king is not in check at that moment
3. the king does not end up being in check after castling
4. the square that the king jumps over is not controlled by an opponent's piece (i.e. he would not be in check if he wanted to catch his break and rest on this square before continuing his journey to the final destination square).
When you do castle, remember to always move the king first when executing castling otherwise your opponent may claim that you wanted to move the rook.

just move the king where you want him
There was a strong coffeehouse player in New York City, many years ago, named George Treysman, who often attempted to castle kingside by immediately placing the rook on e1. When questioned about this obviously illegal procedure, he would say, "Look, you castle your way, and I'll castle my way."

king two spaces toward the rook you're castling with, rook gos right over the king to right next to it.
make sure you haven't moved either of them
