It is important to include all the basic chess annotations, such as "??", "?", "?!", "!?", "!", and "!!". They mostly are used for errors or a good move to be found. I usually just write down the moves, add my own annotations along with them.
How do you write effective chess notes?

Do you date your notes? say.. you studied them today, would you write 1/25/15 along the lines you looked at? I just bought a dozen black notebooks just for chess. So Looking for any insight that I can find on how to write perfect chess notes.
I realized the notes that I've been writing down hasn't been the most effective at helping me learn/retain what I'm studying. My notes structure for chess is..
1) name and date of the game I'm studying
2) specific move sequenecs in question
3) tactical opportunity missed in game
4) why losing?
It would be in this format for the 4 alekhine games I've been looking at.
What methods do you use to write the best notes for chess?
thanks
