how good is 1270 rapid?

I’ve known how the pieces move and stuff since primary school, but didn’t start playing seriously until February this year. Then I bottomed out at 263, peaked at 1312 and tilted back down to where I am now. All things considered, how good am I?

As good as 1270?

1270 is better than 1269, but worse than 1271. Above average on chess.com, high beginner. Bragging rights have not been attained yet

Here's how good you are:
Today I got an accuracy score of 24 on one of my games. I suck. But you're only 200 points above me and I've beaten opponents at your level.

OK, that's a little harsh, but it's a harsh game....and it will pummel your ego. And at our levels, we will get trounced by players who wouldn't stand a chance against serious competition.

It’s amazing that you have played over 1,000+ rapid games within a month. Your having fun and killing time; don’t sweat it on what people say.

You’re in the 90.5% percentile which is a tell tale sign of a serious player.

Not many people can say they are in the top 10% of the field in anything.

I would look into a training and study plan.

You're doing great. +1000 rating in a few months is impressive. Very few will achieve that.

Right now I review most of my games and do a handful of puzzles every day. What else would you recommend for a serious study plan?

1. Make friends with higher rated players. They’ll be able to make practice games and teach new things.

2. Review the Explorer of your games and master database. Have you developed a taste for the game yet? The aim is to start a limited reportorial and reference titled games as a learning guide. As you advanced, you’ll have to learn how to form a middle game plan, utilize tactics and strategy together; where I am at the moment.

If you want to see how this is done, PM me.

3. With regards to puzzles, keep up the effort. Shoot for a 3000 puzzles rating.

I think that's not that bad to start bragging, I'm almost 1270 and I'm 92nd percentile

It’s not bad, but I think around 1700-1800 you can consider yourself a “good” player

Awesomedude2053

How many times has the question "AM I ANY GOOD" been asked in the forums? Im guessing thousands.
