I usually play the Philidor for black against e4 so Idk about this.
But if this is a legitimate opening, it shouldn't be losing for black.

It's not really a losing position but more so towards an disadvantage. Still, my opponent and I have no idea what we are doing when I play this position. So a draw by agreement or 50 move rule I guess?

If you don't know what you are doing then don't play the opening.
Cause you'll (eventually, maybe not now) meet ppl that specifically study the opening or maybe they play it themselves so they would know how to defend against it and you will be hard-pressed to survive
The modern defense is when white either plays e4 or d4 and black counters with g6 and hoping to get this lines of pawns on the board
The engine says it is losing for black with the modern defense in place most of the time and I don't really get why. I played at least 5 matches with the modern defense when the opponent plays d4 (I have no idea how to play against d4 yet) and so far, I have drawn every game except twice because opponent can't get to my pieces and neither could I. So is it a good opening, why, and what am I missing?
