LongTermFuture

I just increased from 2000 to 2300 in spell chess blitz in the last month after a long time of being inactive. Most players online seem to be ~1500 with less than 100 games played, and then the next largest cohort of players online is people who have played >100-300 games who are mostly rated >1900.

Most of my rating gain has been from farming the ~1500 accounts. I only occasionally get paired up with stronger opponents.

I think one reason for why players with more games have much higher ratings is that in spell chess opening theory matters a lot. That is, it's very sharp right from the beginning--there are a lot of ways to lose on the first move with black, and lose on the second move with white. As a consequence, it's very easy for experienced players to defeat new players just with opening knowledge (if spell chess 960 was the norm, experience wouldn't be nearly as helpful).
I've played over 2,000 games of spell chess now, but several hundred of those games are duplicates. E.g. 1...e5 d4 is losing for black in 5 moves and I have had this with white several dozen times with black getting checkmated in a few different ways.
