How is this possibly considered a stalemate ???

I've had a few games lately on chess.com end in a computer dictated "stalemate" with plenty of time on the clock and with clearly enough resources to attain a checkmate. In fact, it is black's turn here and black cannot move without putting HIMSELF in check, so clearly I am the victor here...

This is my third "stalemate" in two days in which I was the clear victor....

Well, this IS a stalemate, as you said. Unfortunately for you, stalemate is defined as a draw.

You put your opponent in a position where they can not make a legal move. Since the game can not proceed with an illegal move, there is no victor. The game is a clear draw. You might not like the rules of chess but they are what they are. Take time to learn them so you don't get surprised by other rules in the future.

OK, I guess what I meant is that the result of stalemate is a draw...

In a situation like this, to avoid that "stalemate" that this game obviously is, try constantly putting your king in check until they have no possible moves. There's clearly no reason why you couldn't have checkmated easily, I don't know if you were possibly running out of time if this was blitz?? I admit, its a pretty embarrassing game to stalemate to.

If you have enough time on the clock, look around the board. See what possibilities you have. But above all, make sure your opponent has a place to move, (or you can just checkmate them) and then make that move. If you're a new player it's understandable, but in the future, you should be able to detect a stalemate and make sure you don't do that move.

That is exactly what you get for being greedy, instead of just winning the game.

huh, you think you so smart, maybe next time you promote to a rook instead?

One thing that an excellent player keeps in mind is that the game is about constant improvement in accuracy. Instead of trying to make sure you can’t possibly lose, try to win in the least number of moves. For what it’s worth, that’s my thought

When you’re in this advantageous of a position, if you’re not checking your opponent, you need to look to see if he has a valid move after yours

You are a player of more than 10 years standing on this site, and you actually took 10 years to bring up stalemate...

If you can't checkmate your opponent with that kind of overwhelming advantage, why should you be credited with a win?
