few years at least...
How long will it take me to become a National Master

I'm pretty much in the same boat as you (except I'm 1600 uscf), but my lack of classical tournament experience is definitely a handicap.

definitely not a bad idea, but I don't have that kind of free time... personally I think 10mins is best for improvement, as it's the perfect combination of long time control, allowing you to think, but it's short enough that you can squeeze in a few games each hour, allowing for more game experience.
And it's not like anyone's looking for a 30min game at 2100 level anyways

Yeah at the 2100 level it’s mostly 10|0

Lol

It depends on how many hours you work on your chess skills every day.
I’m trying to do 2-3 hours a day

Hello everyone I was wondering how long will it take with serious training to become a NM. I started playing seriously in January of 2020 on chess.com. I started at 500 and in April of 2021 I’m 1700. I haven’t played OTB yet because of Covid but I’m hoping to play OTB soon.
you might skip depending on when you want to join a otb tournament but I would wait until I get 2000-2600 blitz and bullet and 1700 rapid

The problem with waiting that long in my opinion is that you need to gain experience OTB and while playing online is good OTB is better for learning because you more time to think.

Concentrate on getting to 2000 OTB USCF then you can decide if you want to spend the time and effort to go for Master. It might take longer than you think but don't get discouraged, you'll hit plateaus in your rating--keep going. I hope OTB comes back soon, when it does play in as many tournaments as you can.
I agree that 2000 is the first step! If I’m still having fun I’ll put in even more work in to my chess.

I played in many over-the-board USCF tournaments and won many. [or tied for first].
my record vs masters is approximately 65%. my record vs grandmasters is 100%.
in 1973 I met the requirements to become a USCF NM. It is 2021 and I will be 80 this month and still do not have title of NM.
So you never know what might happen?

Well that's unfortunate. At least you met the requirements so your basically a NM. How many years did it take you to get there?

It depends on your age. If you are still young and a minor, it's possible to gain improvement rapidly. The younger you are, the quicker you learn.
