i would bet at least half of the real players here are at least 2000

How much would you like to bet? tongue.png

Less than 2% of the active players here are over 2000. If you count all accounts it is probably less than 1%, even less when you consider some of those are cheaters, rating manipulators and multiple accounts owned by the same person.

A 2000 rated player is just a dumber version of a master. We barely have a grasp of all the concepts in chess, we tend to forget about threats and blunder at least once every few games, we usually make a few mistakes and a couple of inaccuracies trying to negate a potential threat while overlooking a completely different threat. It's rough

you can check for yourself by going under play, leaderboard, and then rapid. You can see the graph with the distribution of players at different Elo. 2000 Elo is an excellent rating for someone who plays chess just for fun but it's definitely not as complicated as you think. I am 18 years old and I started playing chess when I started this account which was more than 2 years ago. I hope I inspired someone to reach 2000 Elo one day. happy.png

2000 and even I am trash. The minimum for being a decent player according to Hikaru is 2300🔥🔥

It's a double edge sword. L o l For someone like me who's 33 years old and started playing a year and a half ago, guys like you make guys like me feel like a troglodyte. Lmaooo

I hope to be where you're at someday but recently I have my doubts. Won't stop me from trying though.

True lol

I just broke 2300 but don't know how to stay theresad.png

Btw 2200+ is around 99.7 percentile with around 16000-20000 people at or above that rating

In chess.com online large number of players are 2000+ elo but on otb in comparison number is lower.

For example I am 2200 here but in fide I am 0 fide.

Rapid 2200+ is probably less than 10,000 people in bullet it's around the same at high levels most play blitz(partly because it's he perfect blend of rapid and bullet ) and partly is because it's harder to cheat there

Would love to play against you in rapid format sometimes.

Guess I'm fine with that though id prefer not 10|0 10|0 sucks

Sure but not right now

Yeah cheating in rapid on chess.com is a big issue . Try to avoid bots and chronic cheaters via avoiding new accounts!

Ironically 2200+ blitz players like making alts all the time so some of them are bots and others are legit I can never tell lol

There are definitely some very impressive improvers out there...

... but nearly everyone who claims super fast improvement is lying about it one way or another... don't trust every rating graph you see, and if you're an adult who doesn't have time to play thousands of games a year, don't compare yourself to the kids (and some adults) who can. Improving only 100 points in a year is totally fine.

Yes but doesn't have to be only 100 points a year recently I've been getting about 300-400 points a year at least

You have 20 thousands games on your account and you're a teenager...

18 years from now, in your 30s, start a new hobby as a total beginner and see how well you do.

Probably not great at first lol

I have thousands of games true though that's not the only reason I've improved a lot would prob done better if I didn't play so much lol

BigChessplayer665

Don't worry I played more than 30,000 games @llama_l im guessing it's closer to 40,000-50,000 though but tbh more games doesn't mean you improve actually sometimes slowing down is more beneficial cause there are plenty of people who have 10,000+ games but are stuck at 100 or 1000 so it takes more than just playing games

Practice doesn't make perfect you actually have to practice ina way that's beneficial
