I've met lots of opponents and forum-writers born before let's say 1935, which is not that old, these days; it is a pity most players do not give their birthday in the personal info, even Daniel Distopia !

The above story is not based on reality and the names were changed to protect the guilty.

Interesting information. Now I have a question regarding your explanation. If I am not wrong, the internet began on 1970. So how is that that chess.com existed in 1962? Also the domain "chess.com" seems to be registered for first time on August 11-1994, that would be close to 21 years. So there is probably something missing here....

If you believe my above story, then I have a beach house in Tennesee, and a mountain home in Florida and I'll sell ya both for the prce of just one, a BOGO deal!

Obviously your answer was not believable at all, by simply reading the first sentence "Chess.com was began in 1962" ha ha made me laugh.
However we need to be polite with others on the net, because we never know with whom are we talking to. May be a retarded human or perhaps a Genius ! Ha ha The benefit of the doubt is something nice to learn and apply.
Chess.com was registered in 1994 so I guess this is the oldest chess online site ever. It is great with lot of good opponents, thousands of members and very low cheating rate.... well well the benefit of the doubt !

So, we should distinguish between when the domain was registered and when chess.com, the corporation, was up and running.
According to wikipedia:
The domain chess.com was originally set up in about 1995 by Aficionado, a company based in Berkeley, California, in order to sell a piece of chess tutoring software called "Chess Mentor".[4] In 2005, internet entrepreneur Erik Allebest and partner Jarom ("Jay") Severson purchased the domain name and assembled a team of software developers to redevelop the site as a chess portal. The site was relaunched in 2007.[2] Allebest plays chess at an amateur level.[5] The site was heavily promoted via social media and grew quickly, attracting mainly casual players.

Chess.com was originally registered to sell Chess Mentor courses. It began to take on its modern form in mid 2005 after the domain was bought from its original owners. Live chess was added in late 2008.

The 'domain' chess.com began in 1994 because of close rival Internet Chess Club used it in its first years

Interesting: wayback Machine recomended. 1996 is what it pops up. However I would say it started in 1995. I tested the site for other websites that I already know and it seems to begin tracking 1 year later. May be due to domain propagation delay? Anyways we are close to 1994-1995.
And who is the oldest member?
