Well, it has to be investigated. That takes time.

The amount of time depends on how many reports they have.

You can look at the monthly reports to see how many reports they have to check out.

automated or a person check each report

I am not sure but it makes sense that a person has to check it out.

Last month, there were more than a million abuse reports.

That is more than twice as many as in November.

It wouldn't surprise me if things were completely backed up.

I did more searching. In another thread, a mod reported that some abuse deemed urgent is directly handled but less urgent reports add a tick to some sort of abuse counter.

How they sort out things into urgent and less-urgent is not clear

If its threats of violence or stalking thats what they mean by urgent

noone cares about your reports in chess.com help service if you haven't bought their premium. they won't bother answering you either.

I have no idea what kind of things you are reporting or the severity of the issue(s).

I do know that customer support has been absolutely swamped in recent months, so there have been unusually long delays in getting responses-- for everyone.

The January monthly report came out since this thread started and abuse reports continued to skyrocket. There were close to 1.5 million reports in January.

While it doesn't answer your issue, it is good to see that the numbers of mutings and closings for abuse continued to rise.

I don't know how many employees work in chess.com's customer support department, but I had the impression it was about 5.  So if there were 1.5 million abuse reports, each employee would have to handle about 300,000 reports.   It seems like it would be impossible to send out individual responses in such a situation, don't you think?

I have heard they are hiring more people for support but that takes time.
