How To Analyze Games With Lucas Chess

I can't find where to paste my PGNs so that they can be analyzed? Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Why not look at one of the other 25 threads about Lucas chess analysis?

I think it's "Tools --> PGN Viewer --> Paste PGN".

fuzzbug

You can paste pgn by clicking on "Tools",

"pgn viewer",

"paste pgn".

After the game is pasted, a new window appears.

Click on "Utilities", then "Analyze".

A new box appears where you can set the analysis parameters.

When I click on "paste PGN" it brings me to a new window with a "Queen's Pawn Game" already loaded and I can't figure out how to paste in my own game. Does this happen with yours as well? I've looked at all the drop down menus and there doesn't seem to be any way to paste in my own games.

Any and all help appreciated with this problem.

fuzzbug

No, it doesn't happen to me.

Try closing Lucas chess completely, restart it, then recopy your pgn to the clipboard, and paste per the above instructions.

Then

limber_up

Ahhh, got it! Thanks a million, fuzzbug!

You're welcome limber_up.

Lucas chess is a nice program, it just takes a little effort to get the features to work sometimes.

I like Lucas chess and use it every day but the one problem is that it lacks  good documentation.

I seem to remember a post by the author in which he states that he prefers programming over documenting. From a user viewpoint, it sucks, but from his viewpoint, I guess it's understandable.

Edit - Maybe he's smarter than us and he realizes that even if he did write a fantastic Help File, 98 percent of the users wouldn't read it anyway. Laughing

Yeah the lack of documentation is a little irritating. We need an experienced user to make a series of tutorials that will put this issue to bed permanently. I vote 'notmtwain'. Premium member, seems to have a good head on his shoulders, and rumour has it he plays a formidable Ruy Lopez.
