That aint nice! You earn it here the way you earn it in your country !😑

Well youre not going to play against FIDE officials in order to win national tournaments right ? So youll have to bribe all your opponents in National Juniors Tournament etc to earn your title and for them to let you win right ? I think you know how it works and you cant really bribe your opponents in chess tournaments..thats just ridiculous !!! Dont believe everything you see on the internet. We are the last Catholic nation in Asia and we dont necessarily condone our corrupt government officials.

If you want to become a national master, your best route is to play in chess tournaments that have national masters, and beat them.

I don't like seeing stereotypes about the Filipino condition here. I also don't see how corruption correlates directly to becoming an NM. There are chess clubs and local competitions here, just not as visible and heard within and outside the country. Play chess, talk to the proper officials, and don't bribe them, because it's dumb and proves your lack of being worthy of the title. I also don't know why someone would mention religion. If you think you're good at chess, play more and be better.
Let's be honest: we're chess players, so we should be more civilized.
Finland is third country on the list for least corruption, right after Denmark and New-Zealand . The Philippines is no. 99 on that list, right after Colombia! So I'm afraid finding that bribable Fide official in the Philippines wouldn't be too hard to accomplish.
I agree with this.

You don't have to bribe any opponents, you simply bribe the official in charge of relaying the tournament score sheet to fide, the real scores and winners and prizes will stand at the tournament as usual, after tournament is over you pay and he falsifies and sends the scores with mostly wins for you on it, it's been done before. Some tournament in Sudan or Philippines where scarce with electricity and clean water and whatnot, there isn't goin to be live relay of moves anyway
Man what are you talking about? We are in the 21st century and people are not ignorant anymore! Of course if you suddenly become an NM even after losing in national chess tournaments people will know .Of course you cannot conceal history of events .People are not dumb.In elections you can do that ..but how can you defend your NM title if people know your chess tournaments results?😅😅😅

I would suggest you all stop picking on the Philippines. I am living in Cebu and moved here from the USA The people of the USA voted for a con man who was responsible for thousands of lifes lost to COVID.
When I lived in tjhe USA--here is what happened to me regarding chess In 1973 I brought my USCF rating up to 2188. Later the same year I played in 2 USCF chess tournaments and won both with a perfect score--8 wins in a row with no losses or draws. Now in 2021 I hjve never been awarded FM.

A minority of voters selected the con man, but our system apportions votes geographically. The conman won the right states, thanks to active voter suppression by his party.
