How to do the 2 move check mate

If you are white: 1. Bc4 2. Qxf7#Ke8

If you are black: 1... Bc5 2...Qxf2#Ke1

what----how can whites's first move be Bc4? (there is a pawn in the way--no?)

1. f4 e6 2. g4 Qh4#. Silly play by white,but there you go. 2 moves checkmate. :|

Niki18 don't listen to WildFireMayhem.  

Just remember that  a two move checkmate requires that your opponent cooperate with you to pull it off.  It is a mistake occasionally made by beginners but it is otherwise useless since your opponents won't cooperate to let you do it.  

The scholar's mate would be slightly more useful since you could probably bag some fish with it, but to setup the scholar's mate requires you to bring your queen out early, a sub-optimal move and a bad habit to get into.

Because someone trying to figure out a 2 move checkmate and truly believes it will be widely useful must have the attention span of a gnat, which isn't very conducive to chess.

The likelihood of winning with a two move checkmate is rare as most opponents know what they are doing .... enough not to be mated quickly
