I like the videos of Smirnov. He is one of the gifted few who is not just a great player, but also a great teacher. His explanations are easy to understand and his pace is not too quick.

Thanks for posting!

ChessStrike1

Yes, you are right. Did you read any of his courses? If not, go to http://rcaofficialpartner.blogspot.com/ and read them!

Alpenschach

So far I have just watched his YouTube videos.

But I'll take a look at his courses too... thanks for the link!

ChessStrike1

Thanks and welcome :) All the best for your improvement!

Alpenschach

I just visited the site and learned, that the courses are a commercial product and an expensive one at that.

I am not adverse to investing money into a valueable training resource that will really make me improve my chess. And compared to the price of private coaching lessons, the price is not completely unreasonable, if the courses are good.

So I would like to ask for opinions from you and other players who have actually bought one or more of his courses.

Are they as good as the much cheaper Chessbase DVDs and the video lessons here on chess.com?

What is the target audience (rating range)?

Has anybody tried the Endgame Expert course? That's the one that sounds most interesting to me at the moment.

And most important: Is payment via the site safe?

Thanks for taking your time!

ChessStrike1

Payment is absolutely safe. And when you find his youtube videos are excellent, you will definitely find his courses outstanding. Talking about the target audience, you will have to agree that any chess player can watch his youtube videos. Even a GM can watch his youtube video and can learn from it or can recall something from it. There is no doubt that you will be successful reading his courses.

You can also see the feedbacks from those who have already read his courses in the same site mentioned above (http://rcaofficialpartner.blogspot.com/). There are seperate pages for each course.

For you, you are looking for Endgame Expert - http://rcaofficialpartner.blogspot.com/p/endgame-expert.html/

There are 3 headings - 1) Get the course 2) Description of the course and 3) Reviews. You can see the reviews and there you can find what others say about him and his courses who already read those courses.

Thanks

I just bought the course....

If anybody else is interested in an honest feedback, you may feel free to ask me in a couple of days and I'll let you know my personal experience with this course. Or I will post it here.

I'm really bad at most endgames and recently blundered one winning endgame to a loss and two more from winning to a mere draw. All three against weaker opponents after I had played well for an entire game.

This is my weakest area of the game and if the course really delivers on its promise, then it is worth the money.

ChessStrike1

All the best with it and I am sure you will get it right and be successul! And by the way, did you buy the course from http://rcaofficialpartner.blogspot.com/  ?

Alpenschach

Thanks. I think I clicked on the link from the third post in this thread. Looks like it is the same, yes.

ChessStrike1

Okay friend. Good luck :)
