Well my friend I don't think its as "free" as you think it is. First you have to give the site admins your credit card number. And then the site will charge $14.99 US to your credit card, with the understanding that the charge will become a recurring monthly fee unless you cancel within a certain time frame during the first month.
If you cancel, then you won't have any recurring monthly charges, but the site keeps your initial $14.99 payment. If you don't cancel, you get charged the monthly fees and you're an implicit lifetime member as long as you keep paying the fees, but your initital $14.99 payment is counted for your second month of the membership...thus making the first month the "free" month of membership you get!
Even if the site were to refund your first month's $14.99 if you cancel immediately (which they don't usually), the management will still keep your $14.99 charge for 30 days, interest free. It's basically like thousands of people giving chess.com interest free $14.99 loans for thirty days, which the site is using to invest and speculate on different schemes and foreign investments.
