For me, after I'd lost about 100 games, I got used to it... so it kinda surprises me you're as high rated as you are and you're upset.

I guess I still tend to get upset when I lose if other things in my life are bothering me. It's like I get mad at the chess game as a way of letting out that frustration.

But at least online, I usually never stay mad more than... 30 seconds or so.

OTB it's different because so much effort is put into the game. I might feel bad for days, but that's just part of being human I think. No need to fix it.

i used to feel worse before, because its the goal of this game right? to win it. but in time my understanding about my goal began to shift.. to another form. i started to think this way; whenever i win a game i dont think how i won it but when i lose one it occupies my mind, keeps me busy as to why i lost it. so i realized losing a game is actually teaching me something.. something more than a winning one. now i still feel uncomfortable but i see it as a progress. perfection comes from imperfection. i feel like more professional, it has to happen, its the way of learning.

Get a silicone set. You can take your aggression out without doing much damage.🙂

If you're playing against a computer, you can play alternate matches of chess and kick-boxing.

The computer will win all the chess games, but you'll win all the kick-boxing matches.

I curse a lot sometimes when I lose... Then I might go chill out with some videogames or Netflix. Lol

Whenever you lose a game, stop playing and analyse the game first to learn from your mistake while the imprint is still fresh. It is a way to channel the negative feeling of the loss towards a positive goal of playing better in the future.

I have quit chess 1001 times over the years. That's how mad I get. A day later I'm playing again. Now when I am upset at my chess I will play Checkers for a couple hours so my mind can forget about my chess anger. It seems to work.
