If you really want to be better at blitz, then play that exclusively.
You have to play better than in bullet, but faster than in rapid.
If you always play the same time control, then you grow a feeling for the time per move,
without looking at the clock.
My blitz rating, unlike my other ratings, just isn't increasing and is 400 below my rapid rating and 200 below my bullet rating. I find blitz hard because I don't have time to formulate concrete game plans, but I also can't just play ok enough to end up flagging people like I do in bullet. Is there a secret to being good at blitz?
sidenote: People playing in chess.com tournaments play so much better than people playing just regularly, who play so much better than people playing unrated games in custom-open challenges. I suppose it would have to do with people in tournaments being much more motivated to win. So do I just need to be more motivated to win?
