Nobody can improve in bullet, you can only play less bad

Becoming a stronger chess player might help.

You cant improve bullet by playing bullets.( you may get minimally overrated, e.g ,1000 real elo but 1200 bullet cos of playing heaps of bullets)

The real improvements come from overall level of chess skill. ( which can be improved by blitz, rapid, reading books, analyzing games etc).

Move faster. Calculate slower, (and more accurately).  Study more.

"Become younger," since getting older is slow death for skill at bullet chess.  grin.png

In other words, the correct method in any profession is

" Correct Technique first, Speed later"

Either RAR or premoves, if you don't have them already.

I'm in the same position. I was 1450 but have been slipping recently. Challenge me if you fancy a game sometime.

Bullet only gives you time to play the patterns and ideas you know best, so improving your bullet games comes in 2 steps:

1) get better at chess in general (e.g. read books, play long games like G/60 at least)
2) Play a lot of bullet games. Like 60 minutes a day for a few months. Pay attention to useful patterns and tricks others use (like suicidal checks to interrupt premoves).

If you only do step #2 you might gain 100-200 points, but you'll eventually hit a roadblock beyond which improvement will be impossible until you learn new things.

I see drmrboss beat me to it.

Rule Nr.1: Never give up! I won so many lost games by flagging my opponent with only one pawn left.

That's something many people fail with too. Losing on time with so much material advantage and opponent with 1 or 2 pawns. Scared to give up material to draw? IF YOU ARE BEHIND ON TIME TAKE OPPONENTS MATERIAL AND SECURE DRAW FIRST.
