how to play against friends on live

how do we play against friends on our list on live instead of just on correspondence 24 hr/ 3day chess?

You can click on the button "friends" to the left bottom from your chess board on live chess. Then you can see if they're playing (which you can spectate) or if it says "play," you can send a challenge.

Go into live click on the friends tab click on their name and and press the challenge button.

clicking challenge doesn't help, it only gives the option of playing over days. How do you  play a friend live. I haven't seen a helpful answer yet.
