how to play boring games?

many players in this site play some of the most boring openings and systems possible, make 0 complications and go for a draw or hope you make a mistake, so you would think that:

- going for a attack to make in complicated

these people are masters  when it comes to defending and they will just refute your attack and you lose the game

-playing boring as well

us attacking players will fall asleep and will just lose the game

knowing this, how do people find the fun in these boring positions?

(i know probally nobody will respond but im just hoping)

DimaCrotalus

im responding. ill send it to you when im done

You say that you regularly lose from positions where nothing is going on and the opponent has no ambition.

If that's true, what makes you think you could win in a more complicated position or against a more ambitious opponent?

(But seriously, the reality isn't that all your opponents are playing for draws, it's you had a few recent games where your tricks didn't work so you're feeling frustrated.)

Sea_TurtIe

oh im saying that many people try to play for dryer positions and trade everything off for a draw or hope you make a mistake

IMKetogenic

You play the position on the board.  Chess is about learning and growing.

"Boring" is code for i don't understand the position so i don't understand what to do.

Deadmanparty

So you are saying some people feel they have strong endgames.

brianchesscake

learn to troll better, your trolling is too boring.

I don't get it. With white, you have the initiative. If you want to play something hyper-aggressive and unbalanced, you can do that. No one is stopping you. Just play a gambit or something. With black, you probably shouldn't be looking to be aggressive anyways. You should be relieved if white plays too passively or drawish, as it is harder to win with black. If you still want to be aggressive with black, try the King's Indian, but you must be comfortable pushing the pawns in front of your castled king in some situations, which I am not.

It seems like you are just annoyed that your opponents are defending at all. What do you want them to do? Just roll over and lose for you?

I remember one time hearing that some 2200 guy said he reached that level by just going super solid and waiting for his opponent to crack. This 2100 I played the other day also said they enjoy the long endgames and slow grind. I don't find it boring, rather quite interesting, guess you don't vibe with that style.

Six_Pack_Of_Flabs

Ya see, us'm lowerer rated pluyurs ain't got dose kinds of problemoes. We done blunder EVERYTHING so a borin positionally is juss anooder chance to messup, yessir.

Sea_TurtIe

chess.com pairs me up with lower rated players much more than higher rated players, and i feel as if i have issues with that and i think i was just really bored last night and didint understand

ice_cream_cake

Why not adjust your seek parameters then?

I get what u say but actually playing stable and waiting for a mistake is the smartest choice, ruins creativity tho bcs u don’t take risks
