I feel like I'm playing worse and worse

I had the same problem and I figured out that the reason I was making mistakes was because I wasn't calculating enough or I got overconfident when I had an advanatge and ended up losing.
My solution is to not play Blitz games, but longer ones and take the time to think before moving.
Hope this helps.
+1

I'm having those losing streaks too, especially if I haven't played blitz for a few days and then start it again ...
Playing slower time controls sounds sensible, however I want to get better at blitz too since I hate it when they're playing blitz in my club and I'm always losing ;)

We all have slumps, you just have to play through them. You can always hope to play someone whose slump is worse than yours. Don't worry, This too shall pass.
Hello i have a bog thing i need to learn on the interactive board how do i castle on the online board i just cant do it.

Yeah man, like that advice. We've all been there. Taking a break can work wonders for your game. I've stopped playing fast time controls myself. Too many dropped peices in too many games for too long.
Another thing...............all play and no study will not really improve your play. Making the same mistakes over and over again ( generally via blitz ) only makes bad habits that can be hard to break.
I just came back from a very long break, and am using the turn based games here to get into playing shape.

This happened to me too...+to above just one more advice, try setting up the board (of your most important game) in real life, it makes thinking more comfortable!

Yes taking a break is always good. I once 100 lost points because I wouldn't stop playing. That sucked...
Couldn't have said it better myself. I lost 100+ points n a night because I couldn't stop. I think a slump comes from, when u makle a bad mistake, u want 2 redeem it next game. It is a form of self frustration; lack of concentration. I've started 2 listen 2 the chess player video explanations. This helps tremendously! Listening 2 some1 explain their moves, helps u explain yours 2 yourself. I feel I am better because of it. A short breaks after a bad slump also helps. Gives u time 2 think about mistakes u make, & how not 2 make them. A word of advice: Study your OWN games!

i dont know the reasons for this but it happens to me all the time. i think my play is around 1550 to 1650.everytime i try to get to 1700 i lose. i think i started chess to late in life and cannot give the game 100% of my time to get better. so some of us will stay the same rating but im happy with my game weather i win or lose.

I don't know what's going on. I was playing fairl well or a while but recently every game seems to involve me making more and more ridiculous mistakes. I feel like I'm in a huge slump. Anyone else deal with feeling like this?
I examined your last game where you lost against rram. You were doing well until you overlooked your undefended pawn on h2. I also looked through the game that you won against choister123. He created huge weaknesses in his pawn structure from the first move. You exploited the weaknesses at d3 and f3 excellently, resulting in a great win on the 10th move.
You'll be a fine player.
I'd suggest tactics trainer every day. It trains you to quickly spot weaknesses in your opponent's (and therefore your) position. If you don't have a subscription, make sure that you use your 3 free puzzles every day. If you can afford it at all, get a subscription. It's worth it. Slowly you'll learn to stop overlooking undefended pieces. I joined the site just over a year ago and have spent 82.9 hours on tactic trainer, solving 7,433 positions. I rarely (touch wood) overlook undefended pieces now.
Good luck.

No one can play at their best 100% of the time but you can make an effort to. If you make bad habits like not evaluating the position and making quick moves, then that will harm your improvement. You shouldn't expect that if you just play more that you'll necessarily get better. If you're putting time regularly to study, then you'll catch a lot of mistakes you overlook as well as notice your opponents. The best ways to improve your game is through endgame studies, tactics trainer, chess mentor, and going through master games and trying to understand why they make the moves they do. Believe it or not, I was in a slump the last couple weeks in my Chess. I thought I was my touch since my tactics trainer peak rating was 2424 on Dec. 6 and I found myself drifting around 2200-2300 for a couple days straight. Maybe a short time away from Chess can help clear the mind because I spent Christmas with friends and relatives and when I got back, guess what? Record performance! Although I did take m moves more critically and I chcked with why I got the problems wrong and sometimes even why my move was the only one right. If you are fixing your mistakes, there is no way you aren't moving forward. Here is a short look at how I improved since I started Chess.com tactics trainer over a course of a few months:
Nice!

OMG, I thought it was only me. I'm going thru a terrible slump, but maybe starting to climb out. Been doing tactics problems, but that's about it. Got Soltis' Studying Chess Made Easy; hopefully it will turn me around.
