I just bought some books on physics, so I hope to win the Nobel Prize.
I must be crazy...

Nobel Prize..Ewww! I'd rather win a Grammy (thats why I bought the grammy nominees album)

Books? Aren't they those things that are like websites that you can hold in your hand, but they don't have clickable links?

I bought the Harry Potter series, but I never become a witch.
That was what turned me into an embittered keyboard warrior.
When I write my life story it will be titled.
Story of a loser: How J K Rowling Ruined my life.
Duh...you have to buy the movies too (you won't win an oscar though)

I just spent €300 on books and such...BOOKS!
If I don't become at least a World Championship challenger after that, I'll be a very disappointed man
it starts with today and tomorrow and forever if you dont read those booksor open it to understand its content., just by telling it to the public on line that you are disappointed man

Me neither. Well, actually, that's a lie - I bought "Starting Out: The Scandinavian" because I had seen some games with that opening and thought it suited my 'chess temperament'. But apart from that, I have a few general openings books, like:
Back to Basics: Openings (ChessCafe Back to Basics Chess)
Basman's Chess Openings (secondhand book)
FCO - Fundamental Chess Openings

I don't have NCO (yet). To be honest, it's not my idea of a good read - and if I wanted to research a particular opening, I would probably use a database. The great thing about FCO, for me anyway, is the way the moves are explained.

Brilliantboy, how many books will 300 pounds buy nowdays ? Why not list the books and lets us give you a grade point average for your purchase. You know---if we judge you did well you get an A if not you get a B or C.
Not that you really care what we think but we can kill a few minutes here. Thats basically what chess is---killing a few minutes here and there.

About 2 or 3 more than €300 will...
Bearing in mind the topic is from January and seeing as I've added to my "library" since, I can't recall the exact list. This is more or less it:
My Great Predecessors Vol. 1-5
The Life and Games of Mikhail Tal
Zurich 1953
The Career and Complete Games of Fischer - Mueller
Nunn's Puzzle Book
Chess for Zebras
Dvoretsky's Endgame Manual
Understanding Chess Move by Move - Nunn
How to Choose a Chess Move - Soltis
The Improving Annotator - Heisman
How to Beat Your Dad at Chess (I haven't read this one yet...I'm saving the most difficult for last)
