hi. this has probably been asked before , if so i;ve missed it. i'm considering buying an i-pad 2.how does chess.com work on it? whats it like moving pieces using the touch screen? any advice gratefully received.

The chess.com application does a good job on it . a wide board and an easy moving pieces but not a fantastic design and neither with a nice voice ! Tactic training feature is astonish but limited for free user. it has 10 levels of play vs computer .

so its neccessary to download an app, you can;t just log on to chess.com and play?

you can try both ways. but why not download a free app that makes all the things more handy ?! (like playing online , tactic training , tournements....etc) .

Touch screen makes it very fluit and an enjoyable exprience . Plus that , you can have some great chess Apps especially designed for ipad which thanks to It's fast dual core proccesssor work like a charm ! Like Stockfish and Shredder ....Opening explorer , t Chess pro ....
