I started playing chess long ago over the board and turned to online chess after a significant period of time. As a result, I am used to imagining the chess position in 3 dimensions (as on a physical board) in my mind. This is very tiring and difficult to maintain when I try to play blindfold. Is it benefical to imagine a 2D representation of the chess position? Will it improve the depth of analysis and be less tiring? I would like to know how different players imagine chess positions in their minds and if there is advice available from experts in this regard.
